"HE-MAN"
As a child viewing the He-man cartoon series, I was influenced and introduced to the many different worlds that may or may
not exist. The first reality that exists is the concept of good vs. evil... knowing your demons and enemies and gaining enough
strength to over power them. As this cartoon involved the powers of sorcery, I think I may just have developed my curiosity
towards the mystical world of spirituality here. He-man made me realize that the strength of a hero exists in every one of
us. Adam (He-man as a normal person) was a nice guy, but when needed, he summoned powerful strength to overcome an obstacle
such as the dark wizardry of Skeletor. Was it really the power of Castle Grey Skull that gave He-man the power of a hero,
or did the power always exist within his soul? I know what I believe.
"Scooby-Doo"
I believe Scooby-Doo was a nice step in my young life that sparked my interest towards the world of monsters and costume making.
This awesome cartoon took me (the viewer) through spooky castles, graveyards, labs of mad scientists, and more. I also think
this cartoon helped inspire my passion to solve puzzles and my obsession to think about mysteries. In this show, people would
be chased by horrible monsters, then at the end of the show were revealed to be normal people. Analyzing this cartoon during
my high school years, I realized that the monsters that do exist are only human beings. Another interesting thought, in Scooby-Doo,
the monsters that were scaring everyone were monsters who were greedy, craving anything associated with money, scamming and
betraying fellow humans. I find that to be a good clue that tells us something.
"The Real Ghostbusters"
I can honestly say that "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon furthered my interest in ghosts and demons: The paranormal
in other words. It also sparked my interest into the world of science. I liked the movies, but I have to say that the cartoon
was much more creative. Damn that cartoon had many wicked and scary looking monsters! This cartoon series involved technology
to explore, find answers to, and defeat harmful creatures corrupting our world. Looking back, I found it very inspirational
to my young mind.
"ElfQuest"
Elf Quest played a major role in my teenage life. Looking back, this comic helped me grasp what I believe to be true honorable
heroism and what leadership is. The eight graphic novels that I've read help influence what my idea of "True Love"
is and what a family should be. I found these stories of ElfQuest have been very meaningful in my life. And, I hope that
when I pass down my collection to perhaps a niece, nephew, or child... I hope they will cherish them as much as I do.
"Tales from the Crypt"
Tales from the Crypt was a show I watched religiously in my late teenage years. This program helped to feed my obese curiosity
and enjoyment for sick humor and gore. As a child, the very sound of the Crypt Keepers laugh scared the shit out of me, but
latter in my life I learned to appreciate its creativeness for both the stories it told and the special effects involved.
This show was beautiful when it involved ironic situations and unexpected twists. I still to this day enjoy this show.
"Hellraiser"
The Hellraiser comic books and movies were one of the biggest influences in my life. Just after Hellraiser II came out, I
was so fascinated with the wisdom and power the monsters had. I also loved the imagery of their intense distorted bodies/faces.
I was hooked! In this movie, monsters in hell served their god "Leviathan" with no questions asked, or memory of
the past human lives they once lived. The comics however were able to draw and use subject matter that would be forbidden
to place on the big screen, so they were better in that way. Anyway, I enjoyed this movie so much as a child that I forced
myself to educate myself in the art of special effects.
"The Twilight Zone"
I only watched The Twilight Zone a few times as a child because it scared me too much! The teen years were different though.
Again, as I grew up I slowly developed a passion towards the dimensions of the mind, now finding more interest in science-fiction
fantasy. Taking people into worlds of chaos and uncertainty, this has got to be one of my favorite programs to this day. The
black and white reruns are awesome to watch! But anyway, this show is an awesome collection of horrifying stories and stories
of the mind! There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space
and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and
it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an
area which we call "The Twilight Zone"
"Star Trek: The Next Generation"
As a child growing up with the original Star Trek, I had a bias thought just like many people do, thinking, "Oh boy,
why are you watching this?" Then during my teen years I gave "Star Trek: The Next Generation" a few chances.
What can I say? I have it on my site, so I'm saying that I liked it. This show had some interesting concepts about time and
reality, about humanity and its existence, ghosts, aliens, other dimensions and more. This is an interesting show in my mind.
This program influenced my thoughts towards ideas, philosophies, technology, war, and scenarios where I ask myself, "what
would I do?" Or, "I wonder if that may be passable in the future?" This show is considered sci-fi and that
makes some people feel strange (like they're a geek or something) but if you give it a chance, you'll experience a lot of
interesting crazy things.
"GWAR and Slave Pit"
GWAR...
GWAR GWAR GWAR... You may ask yourself, "What could he possibly learn from GWAR?" Well to be honest, I learned many positive
things from this talented artistic band. I learned to deal with the many disturbing realities this world has to offer just
from watching GWAR. By listening to their songs I learned that I shouldn't be ashamed for who I am or my thoughts.
Seeing
what they do (being extreme) I no longer feel scared to express myself. I learned not to be shy and to express my thoughts
and mind to a new degree. I learned to express myself through a healthier fashion of crazy art and special effects, instead
of hiding my emotions until I blow up, yell, or get violent. They helped me deal with a lot of that teenage confusion I had
at the time. GWAR makes me laugh with their sick humor of truth. I always feel good when I listen to them.
GWAR and
Slave Pit also helped me learn a few things when it comes to special effects and mask making. Yes, GWAR performs and sings
about things many consider foul or immoral, but hey, they're simply displaying what your world has created. GWAR kills people,
but many people should know that GWAR kills all the garbage in humanity. For example they kill Nazi skinheads, Immoral Priests,
and now Osama bin Laden.
I took
the positive from my experience. Just because GWAR performs a stage show that many find disgusting doesn't mean that they
can't influence fans in a good way. I know the difference between reality and fiction. I'm just so damn tired of parents blaming
their failures of child rearing on media, video games, and all that other crap. If their kid makes a mistake, it's their fault,
not the fault from some other influence.
I believe I have a
good head on my shoulders. I care about people and I'd like to know what I could do to help. I'd like to help people just
as countless people have helped me! With those last two sentences written, remember, GWAR was part of my adolescent development.
"EARTH"
As you may see just as I have noticed... I see a pattern in all these thoughts and pictures.
I never realized this about myself until I created this page/thought! Looking from the beginning you'll see a simple cartoon,
at the end you'll see Earth, and in between you'll see many advances. All contain some form of mystery or confusion. Some
form of afterlife or spirituality is formed there. Monsters, demons, and chaos are also apparent! Different realities that
all seem to be questionable! Now I find myself influenced by real people, and this planet that I find behaves as
an unstable element! Life is no longer made up stories for the young minded Alien Orthodox Dave to accept! It's human life
now! I find this pattern that I've noticed within my thoughts very reasonable now! My childhood and adolescent influences
that I decided to embrace have guided me to become the person where I examine my curiosity towards life and death, evil and
innocent, and everything else mysterious or unexplained! I find that I'd like to become an interpreter within this world of
craziness and mystery. Perhaps there is something more to my misunderstandings as I write this thought? I believe all these
influences throughout my existence (that I've embraced) have helped me develop to a point that I've always wanted and/or needed!?
To think, learn, and further life's understandings? I don't know. This thought is new to me, but I do see a pattern in all
of this. How can I not see or understand it now? As I observe my past influences, I see many concepts. Good verse
evil, the imagination of fantasy, science fiction, and horror... the unexplained such as ghosts and magic, emotional interest,
and psychological understandings concerning why people do what they do, their personal pains, the future, and how to help
others overpower their misery. So now that I've developed an education about monsters, fiction, and real life,
where will all of this take me when I attempt to deal with this dimensional plain so many desire to consider, "Truth?"
Where will the future take me as I learn to deal with Earth, Humans, the real monsters and confusions! Where will all these
new experiences go? Within the personal traits I've developed including the experiences from other minds from this world and
others, I question what I should do next. I guess (typing this) I realize now that The Alien Orthodox has become the best
subconscious beginning towards answering my own questions.
