The Iron Giant
When a cartoon involves the Atomic bomb, you know it's going to be interesting. Looking at life through the eyes of a child
and a powerful mysterious outcast, in my mind, this is one of my favorite animated stories so far. Taking place in 1957, this
movie involves rules and morals about life and death, thoughts of power and purity, teachings about people and their souls,
a look at the government and the military, and it also has views about humanity that I can relate to. The Iron
Giant does what he can to learn and to be good, but violently reacts to the stupidity and ignorance of mankind. When threatened,
his body turns into a killing machine that I felt was wickedly awesome! It wasn't hard at all for me to understand why this
creature became disgusted and began blowing things up! I respected the Iron Giant when he began protecting everything he loves
and was willing to die for what he believes in. I had a good time watching this film and I recommend everyone to see it.
I feel I enjoyed this movie so much because I was able to somehow relate to almost every character in the
story. I have the curiosity and innocence of the young boy, the love and worry of the mother, the artistic view of the child's
friend, the inner strength and will of the giant, the fight and order of the military, the stupidity and ignorance of the
government worker, and the intense fear they all had at some point. I know I think to much about simple things like this,
but I believe it makes me appreciate things more. I really enjoyed this movie and I hope you will be able to see it the way
I did.
